Alton Social Bowling Club were happy to host the Friends of English Bowling on Sunday 23rd July. The match was organised to celebrate our new facility.
Unfortunately the weather was not in our favour and as the rain persisted to get stronger we were very fortunate to be offered the use of Chawton Park Indoor Bowls Club to complete the match.
We are very grateful to the members of Chawton Park IBC for allowing us this access.
The match was closely fought but ASBC were victorious and finished 15 shots ahead.
After the game we shared a meal and drinks with our opponents and it was a wonderful opportunity to make new friendships and play with others from differing parts of the country.

On Friday the second of our prestigious matches was played against the Bowls England Team.
It was wonderful to greet President Viv Tomlinson and her team, which were made up with players from 12 Counties.
Again the rain came but it did not stop us from playing on our new green and amid the damp and drizzle there was much laughter and banter between the two teams.
This time Alton Social were beaten by quite a few shots!!
A meal and drinks followed and after this we bade farewell to our new found friends.

On Sunday 30th July we had our Presidents Game against other local outdoor clubs. Odiham, Four Marks, Liphook, Farnham & Whitchurch Bowling Clubs all brought teams and a good afternoon, in favourable weather, was had by all.
This event enabled the members and friends of ASBC to show their appreciation for our President Gary Johnson. Without all his hard work and dedication over the past four years in office, we would not have this wonderful new facility.
Many thanks to all the members who helped to make these occasions a resounding success.

Hazel and her team in the kitchen, Dick & Clair in the bar, Ann Tucker for her beautiful flower arrangements, Sheila for organising the raffles, those who helped clean and George and his team for doing the green and the surrounds.
